The Children’s ministry at Hanover Valley Presbyterian is called KIDS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. It meets most every Sunday morning at 10 AM for all ages and is an active program that uses a variety of media and involves music, teaching, discussion, crafts, and projects. All you have to do is ask the kids themselves and they will tell you its fun and a place where friends are made.
The classes are led by gifted and trained adults who love kids and their families. If you have any questions you are welcome to speak with any of them directly or to the Children’s Ministry Coordinator Susan Schwarz. Below are the age break downs and a brief general description of the Kids Under Construction classes.
Nursery care is provided during worship for children from birth through age four. During Sunday School the nursery is for children under the age of three. Our nursery staff will help your child know that the church is a place where little ones are cared for and accepted.
We recognize that your children are very precious to you and so we desire to provide the best loving care that we can for your children. We will provide a safe environment with reliable volunteers who will engage your children in creative play. For peace of mind, when you drop your children off in our nursery you will be given a pager so we can notify you quietly if necessary. Our volunteers are there to serve you so please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
BEGINNINGS (3 YEARS - KINDERGARTEN)
Beginnings lays the first layer of a foundation. The little ones learn the works of God in the Old Testament and of His wonderful gift to them in the New Testament stories about Jesus.
EXPLORERS (1ST - 3RD GRADES)
Explorers are forming a firm foundation to stand on. Unit studies on the Bible, prayer, worship, obedience and service give a more in-depth study of the Bible basics.
DISCOVERS (3RD - 6TH GRADES)
Discovers study the Word in its historical framework. From creation to the flood, Abraham to the exodus, the kinds of captivity, the life of Christ, the beginning Church. The children develop an understanding of how God make himself known to us in the different areas of revelation.
The middle and high school years are always a tumultuous time full of growth, joy, heartache, and a search for significance. Our desire at Hanover Valley is to meet students where they are with the message of the gospel: that God loves and saves sinners. We believe that every teenager in the Hanover community needs the good news of Jesus and that He will transform their lives for the better. As a result, we are committed to being a church that cares for those who are already within our church and for those who are not. In order to do this we focus on four major areas: Christ, Community, Contribution and Consistency.
Christ: Above all else we desire for our youth to have lasting relationship with Jesus Christ. Everything we do revolves around the gospel, so we take the Bible and growth seriously. We don’t want our students to simply gain knowledge, but to gain an understanding of the transforming, all consuming nature of the love of Jesus.
Community: God created every person to be in community, so we are committed to being a community that welcomes every person to enter into a relationship with Jesus. To do this, we desire to build relationships with those inside and outside of the church.
Contribution: We believe that everyone has something unique to contribute to the church and to our community, and our desire is to cultivate the use of these gifts that are in every individual for use in ministering to those around them.
Consistency: Our life is made up of innumerable decisions that form us into who we are. We believe that it is important for us to be consistent in the the things that give us life, and we recognize that it is through Christ and Community that our lives are transformed, so we desire to be consistent in following Jesus Christ and gathering together.
