Hanover Valley Sunday Service Livestream - August 2nd, 2020

Dear Friends

You don't have to have been around Hanover Valley Church very long to discover the contagious effect of the event called Kids Fest. This week long morning activity and Bible learning camp has been around longer than the church has. It began on the first full week of August in 1998, as a way to reach out to our community with a place for families to explore the gospel of Christ in an active and natural way. And it's been operating like that ever since. Until this year of course, due to this unique and unmatched cultural and global pandemic. It's presented us with a year to take a sabbatical from this uninterrupted run of years to rest and renew the Kids Fest movement. In any other year, this week and weekend we would be ramping up to begin this event on Monday for about 500 students and their families. Honestly, it feels weird not to be moving toward it and connecting with students and leaders and programs. There are hundreds of families and 1000's of kids that think of Kids Fest as their end of summer "do not miss" event and we are so sad to miss them this year but know that it's best to stay safe and wait till next year to see everyone again. That's why we're offering a Kids Fest Car Parade a week from tonight. We hope all our leaders and volunteers and kid movers will come out and gather around the pavilion area at Codorus Park and wave and smile and cheer and we hope many families will drive their kids through the parking area and wave and smile back, hoping for next year and seeing faces and friends. Pray for these families and for this event. Take part if you can by car or in person as we encourage each other and long for this time next year with enthusiasm.

Kids Fest Car Parade

On Friday August 7th  we’ll be gathering at the Kids Fest pavilion area (Pavilion 1 Codorus State Park Hanover, PA 17331) to connect with families from our community who will drive through the parking lot while Kids Fest volunteers wave posters and wave. This is simply another way for us to connect with each other as volunteers and to connect with our community even though we aren’t having Kids Fest as usual this year. We would appreciate your help in spreading the word to other volunteers to get as many folks there as we can! What to bring: yourself, a Kids Fest shirt, poster, a mask (for close conversations) and a smile! When: August 7th  from 5:00-7:30. We’ll spend some time together as volunteers before the parade begins at 6:30 and wrap up by 7:30. Who: All Kids Fest volunteers! This includes incoming Ninjas.

As we prepare for the Kids Fest Car Parade (August 7th from 6:30-7:30 at the Kids Fest pavilions), we’d like to get an idea of the number of leaders and volunteers that are planning on joining us for the evening to make the parade possible. If you are planning on attending the car parade, please fill out this Google form as soon as you can. This will help us to know whether or not we are going to have enough volunteers present for the event. Thank you for the help!

Live Stream Worship The session and I continue to keep a close eye on any changes in the health and safety guidelines. As of today, there are no changes that affect the processes we are currently following.  We continue to offer the weekly livestream worship service at 10am on Sundays. The link to join in is here: https://m.youtube.com/user/HanoverValley We hope that it is an encouragement and a chance to explore the person and grace of Christ in a practical and captivating way. Please feel free to share the link on social media and with others' in your life who may wish to check it out. We have discovered many in and around our area who have found the live stream and Hanover Valley for the first time through this link and by sharing it on social media.  In addition to engaging the livestream from your own home, we also offer two more options available during this pandemic crisis:  1. Small groups are available to meet in homes to worship together. If this option suits your situation best we encourage you to contact one of the growth group leaders or the church office to see if a group gathering is occurring and how you might best be prepared to be a part.  2. The church building will be available for anyone to be present while the live stream is being produced. This option will involve wearing masks during the service and being careful to space ourselves to prevent infection.  We are praying for you all. We love you all. Let us know how you are doing. Share your needs and prayers and encouragements. God is good and is unhindered in his work to love and build his people and redeem and heal our world. Warmly, Drew Derreth

Soul on Fire

Chorus: God, I’m running for Your heart,

I’m running for Your heart, ‘til I am a soul on fire.

Lord, I’m longing for Your ways,

I’m waiting for the day when I am a soul on fire.

‘Til I am a soul on fire (Repeat)

Lord, restore the joy I had. I have wandered, bring me back.

In this darkness, lead me through. Until all I see is You. Chorus

Bridge: Lord, let me burn for You again. Let me return to You again.

And Lord, let me burn for You again. And let me return to You again.

Chorus 2: God, I’m running for Your heart,

I’m running for Your heart, ‘til I am a soul on fire

Lord, I’m longing for Your ways,

I’m waiting for the day when I am a soul on fire

God I’m running for Your heart,

I’m running for Your heart, ‘til I am a soul on fire

‘Til I am a soul on fire, ‘til I am a soul on fire

Corporate Prayer of Confession

O Lord Jesus Christ, no day of my life has passed that has not proved me

guilty in your sight. My best services are filthy rags. All things in me call for

my rejection; however, all things in Christ plead my acceptance. Grant me

to hear your voice assuring me that by your stripes I am healed, that you

were bruised for my iniquities, that you have been made sin for me that

I might be righteous in you. Grant that by resting in your righteousness I

may hereafter walk in newness of life and run hard after your command-

ments. Amen.

Private Confession

Words of Encouragement

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with

God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access

by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope

of the glory of God. - Romans 5:1-2

Song of Reflection

At the Cross

Oh Lord, You’ve searched me. You know my way.

Even when I fail You, I know You love me.

Your holy presence, surrounding me.

In every season, I know You love me. I know You love me.

Chorus: At the cross I bow my knee,

Where Your blood was shed for me.

There’s no greater love than this.

You have overcome the grave.

Your glory fills the highest place.

What can separate me now?

You go before me. You shield my way.

Your hand upholds me. I know You love me. I know You love me.

Chorus

Bridge: You tore the veil, You made a way,

When You said that it is done.

You tore the veil, You made a way, when You said that it is done.

And when the earth fades, falls from my eyes,

And You stand before me, I know You love me, I know You love me.

Chorus

Benediction

Parting Song of Praise

At the Cross (Chorus)

At the cross I bow my knee,

Where Your blood was shed for me.

There’s no greater love than this.
