"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies."
Familiar words from the 23rd Psalm. Comforting words. Words of hope to be sure. But I've always been a little curious about that statement. It's telling me that Christ, our good shepherd, will lead us to green pastures and quiet waters and prepare us a feast but it will be while surrounded by threatening forces. It reminds me that life with Christ is complicated. It's living in the tension of a banquet while still at war. I'd rather the war or the banquet. One or the other, It's simpler and clearer and uncomplicated. But life is complicated and so is our world and so is culture and events and people. The joy of the good news of Christianity is that it doesn't offer a simplistic solution to difficult issues. Christ gives us the grace to live in the uneasy conflict of life while at the same time enjoying the bounty of his presence and provision. He asked Peter to walk on water while in a storm and asked the rest of the disciples to sleep on a tumultuous sea.The complication and nuance of the gospel and life of Christ makes me trust him all the more. There are rarely simple solutions or easy answers. But the gospel gives us a credible realistic life engaging solution to live powerfully, confidently and with poise, while amidst a still strained circumstance,
Every year we offer a week long Kids Fest event at Codorus State Park for children from kindergarten to sixth grade. It's a week of mornings filled with activity, music, art, games, discovery and exploring the love of Christ in biblical stories. It's a major 'all hands on deck' event each year with over 150 volunteers leading and serving and several hundred kids taking part. Due to the pandemic, we have been cautious to watch for guidelines as we planned for this year's version of Kids Fest and have been working in partnership with the park officials to determine if we could provide a safe and healthy experience. After much prayer and discussion with our department leaders, it seemed the wisest course to cancel Kids Fest and allow this year to be a sabbatical year of rest for this vital ministry and it's leaders. Adapting the program to accommodate for the health and safety of our youngest participants would not be possible given the nature and numbers of the event. Kids Fest has operated uninterrupted for 22 years. Resting a year will be a refreshing break to reengage for 2021. Please be praying as our director, Noah Trask, communicates this news to our teams and families. It will be a very different year for everyone but we still hope to mark the week in some special ways we are developing.
Live Stream Worship
We continue to offer the weekly livestream worship service at 10am on Sundays. The link to join in is here: https://m.youtube.com/user/HanoverValley We hope you are encouraged by Christ's love and grace. Please feel free to share the link on social media and with others' in your life who may wish to explore it. We have discovered many in and around our area who have explored the live stream and Hanover Valley for the first through this link and by sharing it on social media. In addition to engaging the livestream from your own home, we also offer two more options available during this pandemic crisis: First, small groups are available to meet in homes to worship together with the livestream. If this option suits your situation best we encourage you to contact one of the growth group leaders or the church office to see if a group gathering is occurring and how you might best be prepared to be a part. Second, beginning this Sunday, the church building will be available for anyone to be present while the live stream is being produced. This option will involve wearing masks during the service and being careful to space ourselves to prevent infection. None of these options is ideal. We want to look out for each other's needs over our own, offer healthy and safe options for our neighbors and friends to explore grace, and pray that the Lord will guide us out of these most unusual times by his wise will and timing. Pray for patience and love for one another, pray for our leaders who are caring for many in various ways to stay connected, pray for our production and worship teams who continue to develop and improve the technology and quality of our service.
The session, Noah and I are praying for you day by day. Let us know how we can be praying or be helping you.

Corporate Prayer of Confession
God of mercy, whose Son Jesus Christ longs to gather us in the wide embrace of his love: We confess that we have been wayward children. We have disobeyed your commands; our ears have been deaf to your call; our hearts have been cold to your love. In thought, in word, and in deed we have hurt others and dishonored your name. In your great mercy receive us yet again as your well-beloved children, not because we are worthy, but for the sake of him who loved us and gave himself for us. Amen.
Words of Encouragement
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.

Song of Reflection
This is the Gift of God
Because of His love, rich in mercy, He made us alive in him.
Saved us from death, rescued the sinners, this is the gift of God.
Chorus: Holy is the Lamb of God. Holy is the One who loved.
Not by works, but by His blood. This is the gift of God.
Before the creation, we were chosen, adopted into His love.
Glorious grace, lavished upon us, this is the gift of God.
Parting Song of Praise
