SUNDAY WORSHIP
August 24th, 2025
Prelude
Call to Worship
Gathering Songs (Please Stand)
Almighty, Most Holy God
Chorus: Almighty, most Holy God; faithful through the ages.
Almighty, most Holy Lord, glorious Almighty God.
The beasts of the field, the birds of the air
Are silent to call out Your name.
The earth has no voice and I have no choice
But to magnify God unashamed.
Let the rocks be kept silent for one more day,
Let the whole world sing out, let the people say: Chorus
Well, time marches on with innocence gone,
And a darkness has covered the earth.
But his spirit still dwells, he speaks, it is well,
And the hopeless still offered new birth.
He will break the leash of death, it will have no sting.
Let the prisoner go free, join the dance and sing: Chorus
Come Ye Sinners
Come ye sinners, poor and wretched
Weak and wounded, sick and sore
Jesus ready stands to save You
Full of pity, joined with power
He is able, He is able
He is willing, doubt no more
Come ye needy, come and welcome
God’s free bounty glorify
True belief and true repentance
Every grace that brings you nigh
Without money, without money
Come to Jesus Christ and buy
Come ye weary, heavy-laden
Bruised and broken by the fall
If you tarry ’til you’re better
You will never come at all
Not the righteous, not the righteous
Sinners Jesus came to call
Lo! Th’Incarnate God ascended
Pleads the merit of His blood
Venture on Him, venture wholly
Let no other trust intrude
None but Jesus, none but Jesus
Can do helpless sinners good (x2)
Have Mercy
I am a sinner. You’re blameless Lord.
My sins against You can’t be ignored.
They will be punished, I know they must;
Your law demands it for You are just.
If You would count everything that I’ve done wrong,
Who could stand? But there’s forgiveness with You God
Chorus: Have mercy on me; have mercy on me
A broken and contrite heart, You won’t turn away.
Have mercy on me; have mercy on me,
Because of Your steadfast love.
Father of mercy You gave Your Son
To make atonement for wrongs I have done.
What You required Jesus fulfilled;
I don’t deserve it and I never will.
If You would count everything that I’ve done wrong,
Who could stand? But there’s forgiveness with You God Chorus

Corporate Prayer of Confession
Almighty God, we praise you that you are the King of Kings and yet you are a kind and loving shepherd who is powerful and full of compassion for your weak sheep. Forgive us for seeking our own power to use for our benefit. We often give in to the temptation to rebel and wander from you. We are stubborn at times, weak, and difficult to love. Help us to confess our sin and repent of it quickly. Do not let pride swell up in our hearts. Humble us when we sin and help us to rest and rely on Christ and the good news of his gospel. Thank you that Jesus’ sacrifice covers all of our sin and protects us from ourselves. Make us humble, teachable, patient, generous, and gracious as we grow more and more into the likeness of our Good Shepherd, Jesus. In His name we pray, Amen.
Private Confession
Words of Encouragement
Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD” —and you forgave the guilt of my sin.
Psalm 32:1, 5
Song of Assurance (Please Stand)
I Will Glory in My Redeemer
I will glory in my Redeemer,
Whose priceless blood has ransomed me
Mine was the sin that drove the bitter nails,
And hung Him on that judgment tree.
I will glory in my Redeemer,
Who crushed the power of sin and death,
My only Savior before the Holy judge,
The Lamb who is my righteousness,
The Lamb who is my righteousness
I will glory in my Redeemer,
My life He bought, my love He owns.
I have no longings for another,
I’m satisfied in Him alone.
I will glory in my Redeemer,
His faithfulness, my standing place.
Though foes are mighty and rush upon me,
My feet are firm, held by His grace.
My feet are firm, held by His grace.
I will glory in my Redeemer,
Who carries me on eagles’ wings.
He crowns my life with loving kindness,
His triumph song I’ll ever sing.
I will glory in my Redeemer,
Who waits for me at gates of gold.
And when He calls me it will be paradise,
His face forever to behold,
His face forever to behold.

Song of Reflection (Please Stand)
Only in the Cross
When I look upon the cross
In that spectacle of suffering,
I see the power of God.
There the Son of God was crushed
And lifted up to die for me,
And conquered death forever.
Chorus: So I will glory only in the cross.
Yes, I will glory only in the cross,
And I will make my boast in the Lord Jesus Christ,
Crucified to ransom us.
When I look upon the cross
In what might seem a senseless death,
I see the wisdom of God.
For there the sinless Holy One
Was made to be sin for me,
Then He declared me righteous. Chorus

SCRIPTURE
Genesis 37:1-11
1 Jacob lived in the land where his father had stayed, the land of Canaan. 2 This is the account of Jacob’s family line. Joseph, a young man of seventeen, was tending the flocks with his brothers, the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives, and he brought their father a bad report about them. 3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made an ornate robe for him. 4 When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him. 5 Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. 6 He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: 7 We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.” 8 His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said. 9 Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” 10 When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, “What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?” 11 His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind.
