REFLECTIONS

To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest;

To all who mourn and long for comfort;

To all who struggle and desire victory;

To all who sin and need a Savior;

To all who are strangers and want fellowship;

To all who hunger and thirst after righteousness;

And to all who will come,

this church opens wide her doors and

offers welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ

We grow up into Christ by growing down into lowliness…Off-loading our fantasies of omnipotence, we start trying to be trustful, obedi – ent, dependent, patient, and willing in our relationship to God. We give up our dreams of being greatly admired for our doing wonder – fully well. We begin teaching ourselves unemotionally and mat – ter-of-factly to recognize that we are not likely ever to appear, or actually to be, much of a success by the world’s standards. We bow to events that rub our noses in the reality of our own weaknesses, and we look to God for strength quietly to cope…It is impossible at the same time to give the impression that I am a great Christian and that Jesus Christ is a great Master. So the Christian will prac – tice curling up small, as it were, so that in and through him or her the Savior may show himself great. That is what I mean by growing downward.

SUNDAY WORSHIP

March 8th, 2026

Prelude

Call to Worship

Gathering Songs (Please Stand)

Great is Thy Faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;

There is no shadow of turning with Thee,

Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not,

As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.

Chorus: Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided

Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,

Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above;

Join with all nature in manifold witness,

To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love

Chorus

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,

Thine own great presence to cheer and to guide;

Strength for today, and bright hope for tomorrow,

Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside

Chorus

Your Love is Better Than Life

O Lord, You are my Lord. Your ways are higher than mine.

I’ve seen the broken restored. Your love is better than life.

We thirst in a dry weary land. We hunger for thee.

Lord, rain down as we lift up our hands. Your love is better than life.

O God, I stand amazed, how high, how deep, how wide.

My lips offer you praise. Your love is better than life.

I stand in the shade of your wing. My soul clings to thee.

In the joy of the Lord will I sing. Your love is better than life.

O Lord, You are my Lord. Your ways are higher than mine.

I’ve seen the broken restored. Your love is better than life.

Lord, your love is better than life.

Cornerstone

My hope is built on nothing less,

Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.

I dare not trust the sweetest frame,

But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name. (Repeat)

Chorus: Christ alone. Cornerstone.

Weak made strong in the Savior’s love.

Through the storm, He is Lord. Lord of all.

When darkness seems to hide His face,

I rest on His unchanging grace.

In every high and stormy gale,

My anchor holds within the veil.

My anchor holds within the veil!

Chorus

When He shall come with trumpet sound,

Oh may I then in Him be found.

Dressed in His righteousness alone,

Faultless to stand before the throne.

Chorus

Corporate Prayer of Confession

Almighty God, you are generous in abundance. You have given to us gifts that we do not deserve. You have called us from death to life, granted us forgiveness through the death and resurrection of your Son, given us the Holy Spirit, and made us your children through faith. You have provided for us, both spiritually and materially. Yet we have failed to be thankful and to rejoice in your goodness. We have ignored you and neglected to give you the praise that is due your name. Forgive us for our ingratitude. Give us eyes that see your hand at work in all areas of our life. Enable us to realize that every good thing comes from you. And deepen our gratitude so that we might serve you with undivided and joyful hearts. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Private Confession

Words of Encouragement

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live.

Isaiah 55:1-3

Song of Assurance (Please Stand)

Man of Sorrows

Man of Sorrows, Lamb of God, by His own betrayed

The sin of man and wrath of God has been on Jesus laid

Silent as He stood accused, beaten, mocked, and scorned

Bowing to the Father’s will, He took a crown of thorns

Chorus: Oh, that rugged cross, my salvation

Where Your love poured out over me

Now my soul cries out, hallelujah

Praise and honor unto Thee

Sent of heaven, God’s own Son to purchase and redeem

And reconcile the very ones who nailed Him to that tree

Chorus

Bridge: Now my debt is paid, it is paid in full

By the precious blood that my Jesus spilled

Now the curse of sin has no hold on me

Whom the Son sets free, oh is free indeed (Repeat)

Chorus

See the stone is rolled away, behold the empty tomb

Hallelujah, God be praised, He’s risen from the grave!

Chorus

Song of Reflection (Please Stand)

Jesus Lives

I no longer fear the grave

Christ has come

Took the sting of death away

Through His saving blood

Though my body fails and my flesh grows weak

Till my final breath to this hope I’ll cling

Chorus: Jesus lives and so shall I

I’ll be raised from the dust with Christ on high

Jesus lives no more to die

And when He returns with Him I’ll rise

Jesus lives

In this fallen world I cry

For the day

When Your glory splits the sky

And You come to reign

All creation waits for that promised hour

When the saints of God are revealed in power

Chorus

Bridge: Not death nor any power of hell

Can separate me from the love (Repeat)

The love of my Savior

The love of my Savior

Chorus

SCRIPTURE

Matthew 20. 20-28

20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of him. 21 “What is it you want?” he asked. She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.” 22 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?” “We can,” they answered. 23 Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been pre – pared by my Father.” 24 When the ten heard about this, they were in – dignant with the two brothers. 25 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
